They rely on the sticks. When something doesn´t go right, from sixty percent they blame it on this thing. „When I play well then hockey stick is absolutely great, when I don´t, I put all the blame on it,“ confesses defenseman of CSKA Moscow Jan Hejda. „For the Championship I have four handels and six blades that I will be changing according to the need,“ adds Hejda.

 

Romantic relationship is frequently going on between Martin Havlat from Ottawa Senators and his hockey stick. „Right now I´m in a phase when me and my hockey stick are best friends,“ affirms Czech forward. How many sticks did he bring to the Chmapionship? „I have no idea, but many.“

 

Five practice sticks and five game sticks. That is how supplied is rookie of the Czech team, Pardubice forward Patr Prucha. „I have no special ritual, I just tape the blade and go no the ice,“ laughs Prucha.

 

On the other hand very suave kind of relationship has Czech goaltender Dusan Salficky towards his stick. „The stick is extremely important to me, it helps me to perform better, I’m particularly keen on how the stick looks like and on its´ parameters“. Salficky decorates the stick with various signs. „I write there notes like good luck and I have to win. I write it in english and sometimes I add first letters of my children names,“ says goalie of CSKA Moscow.
